2010 WHO Convention

Update June 23rd
Front page news at http://www.thewho.com/index.php?module=home :)

The Wholigans are happy to announce we are appearing at our 4th
International WHO Convention Oct 3rd in the UK at Dingwalls in London.

BELFAST 2009

I just found some video's from a gig in Belfast Ireland September 2009
Anyway Anyhow Anywhere
Pinball Wizard on Facebook.
I'm a Boy

As a side note,I had burst both of my eardrums a few shows prior to this gig and was unable to hear ..literally!
I could only hear the vibrations and the voice inside my head.
I could not tell any venues ownersat the time for fear they would cancel our gigs, the show must go on you know.
I guess all those years of playing gigs with shitty (or no) monitors paid off !

My ears are fine now thanks to some fine fine doctors here at home, and I can't wait to go back to the UK later this year.

In the misty morning,on the edge of time......

The world lost the greatest metal singer of all time today Ronnie James Dio.

I saw that man in the 70's/80/s/90's and until about a year ago with 'Heaven & Hell(Black Sabbath)
What a legacy...what a loss.
I love that mans voice.
I sing 'We Rock' at each and every soundcheck and have done for years and years.

Metal without Dio?......unfathomable.

Dio Facebook page

This song is one of his best, and probably my favourite although that is hard to determine with such a great catalog.

Live version

I'm a Roadrunner Honeeeeeeeeeyy!!!!

Dave (Wholigans bassist since 86) sent me this recently discovered video by us from
87-ish.recorded in Toronto ......back when my jeans Used To fit me :\
'Shakin all over/roadrunner/my generation blues'
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLrEBD-ppJk

Dave dug another one up that was buried in the closet I guess, heres one I hadn't seen until 10-15 minutes ago, it's 'Eminence Front' and a clean good looking version considering it's from 86 or 87ish.
Yours truly wearing what was considered kinda coolish then, a Don Johson 'Miami Vice jacket (Roger wore it first so don't blame me !) :P

That's John Walsh on guitar who has long since dissapeared from the radar...no joke I googled the guy 1 day and searched for ages....he's vanished into thin air !!!
Apparently he's alive, but no longer thrilled with rock n roll.

1 last one I'd never seen until today, Won't Get Fooled Again...complete with smoke bombs (long since illegal)

Irish Jack and The Wholigans

Last year in September 2009 Irish Jack came and spent the day (& 1/2) with us in Dublin. at our 2nd last show of the UK tour here
This video is just segments as I got rather artsy fartsy putting it together,it's sort of a mini omage to Jack and the mods, with a bit of a Wholigans thrown in for good measure.

Most of the day was in the pub (go figure) here then we headed to the Academy to play and Jack went on before us to "read" to the audience.

You can see Jacks full 'reading' here

Speaking of "New" video's

I'm editing and uploading to youtube right now video's I have from the 2009 September UK tour.
1st up is 'I'm a Boy' from Motherwell Scotland.
Then it's going to be part of WGFA and the Mad Mad MAD crowd in M'well followed by
', 'Long live rock 'and 'My generation' where the crowd has completely lost their minds !
The video was shot from 'Pete's' side of the stage, so you hear more guitar than anything else, but it gives you a stage roadies perspective.

This is here just because I like it 'Naked Eye' 2005

It’s not your same old same old video, I won’t give it away but pause the start then read the info on the video before playing.

You probably think I’m a daft bastard for putting this up………maybe I am ;)
Maybe I’m a marketing genius ;);) (probably the former)

Bad news....GOOD NEWS

Bad news first.....we have cancelled the upcoming UK tour April 28th-May 4th

GOOD NEWS IS.....we have moved the dates to Wed Sept 22nd to Sun Oct 3rd ,and dates are already booked/signed/sealed/delivered :)

FYI....there is a 2010 WHO convention at that time, could be just a co-incedence ( WHO knows ? ;)

These photo's are from the March 20th gig in Florida (taken by Kirk Mason)

Last night in Florida

We played a great show last night, if I say so myself, the band was really tight.
Considering Chris hadn't played since the LA gig in January and Darren got out of the airport just an hour before the gig started and basically ran on stage minutes before showtime.
Heres the set list......

Substitute
Happy Jack (forgot to play this, we were supposed to :\
I’m a boy
Anyway Anyhow Anywhere
The real me
Love reign O’er me
Magic Bus
My Wife
Behind blue eyes
Who are you
Fortune teller
Tattoo
Summertime Blues
Shakin All Over…
Tommy (Christmas' was in here somwhere) ....can't remember where :\
Overture
Amazing Journey
Sparks
The Acid queen
Pinball wizard
I’m Free
We’re not gonna take it
See me/listening to you
Won’t Get Fooled Again

ENCORE
Baba O’Riley
I Can’t Explain
My generation (smashed the hell out of the guitar and gave several pieces away)

The crowd wasn't the biggest we 've played to there, but they were mega enthusiastic.
Signed tons of autographs and especially for a lot of kids age range 6-16 which was great to see a whole new generation of WHO fans.
Thanks New Port Ritchey ,we had a great time.

Up next:Germany Tuesday till Sunday.

ROCK N' ROLL !

Florida today

Don't forget we are in New Port Ritchey tonight an outdoor festival.
Mark's YES tribute goes on at 6.30-8.30 (he's on drums)
Then The Wholigans 9-11,.........WITH ONLY ONE CATCH......Darrens plane isn't scheduled into Tampa until 7 then he drives an hour to the gig and literally has to jump on stage for 30,000 !
I sure hope he makes it or we will all look like fools !

Just another day in Wholigan history........it aint no thayng !
(I've been down south too long..can you tell? ;)
